Hello, friends, and welcome to this year’s Love to bHome Fall Tour! If you arrived here from Kristy’s at Starfish Cottage I am so happy to meet you. I can’t wait to share with you some of my fall decor today.
Also, at the bottom of this post there is a wonderful giveaway that is super easy to enter and I’ll be sending you to the next stop on our Fall Tour.
The rich colors of fall have always appealed to me. I also love neutral decor and some of the lovely muted tones that are more and more popular for autumn decor but, and this is a big but, I try to use the same decor over and over each year maybe adding one new item per year or making something new so this year’s decor is all recycled from more years than I care to remember.
This year I started by decorating my mantel which is a big deal for me. I have dreamed of having a fireplace and mantel for as long as I’ve owned this house. I got tired of waiting and built my own last winter. I started with an old cabinet and went from there and hopefully, someday I’ll share all the details and the how-to.
I topped my mantel with a lantern, some small faux pumpkins and gourds and a wooden farmhouse styled tray.
Inside the fireplace, I placed some mums that were a birthday gift from my middle son (he knows me so well!) into an upcycled seagrass basket and placed that on top of an old drawer for added height.
I like to use vintage pop crates any chance I get for decor (or to hold magazines and this one used to be a toybox for my oldest son….time goes by too quickly) and that is next to the fireplace holding a faux pumpkin.
Next to the fireplace I draped a comfy throw over the chair and topped that with a pillow I made from a kitchen towel and an old button-down shirt (tutorial coming soon!).
The throw has pom poms so I think I needed it 😉 plus, it was only $7.94 at Walmart which meant there was really no reason not to get it, right?
The next room I want to share is my dining room. I went simple this year for the dining room and am using another pop crate and more mums for the centerpiece. I added some burlap to the pop crate to cover up the planter and that will also make it easy to remove for watering those mums…they get thirsty especially indoors.
I’m not entertaining today but I thought I would set the table just to make it look a little less empty.
Anytime I do entertain, I like to use something vintage or something from my mother just because and for this table setting I used my Pioneer Woman plates and topped them with some antique plates that were my mothers. They have brown in them which made them perfect for fall.
I had some fresh apples and those are an easy way to add color to the table so I added them to help complete my simple dining room table decor and that sums it up for now. I’m sure I’ll be adding some decor to my kitchen soon.
