Why You Need To Award Yourself with Me Time
This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of InStyle®, PEOPLE®, and StyleWatch®. The opinions and text are all mine.
Me Time. It’s one of those things that we tend to put off. We take care of our families and our homes and we work hard at whatever it is that we do. Our time is precious and limited and because of that we sometimes put off Me Time but if you go without it for too long you’ll start to lose your creativity and that special spark that makes you who you are.
How I Got Excited for Spring and Awarded Myself with Me Time
Years ago I used to be in touch with fashion. I not only had a good fashion sense but I looked for trends in my favorite magazines. I would copy those trends and throw in my own unique touch and style. It was wonderful but then there were more work demands, another child was born, a family member became ill and I became their caretaker and I fell into a frump. Frump is what I call that tendency to dress down, to wear stretchy pants, big shirts and comfy shoes but this year after a long winter, too long, I decided I needed to change that.
I was doing some grocery shopping at Kroger and hit the magazine aisle. It’s one of my favorite parts of the store. I saw the current issue of InStyle and decided to buy it and use it as a resource for planning some fun and pretty spring wardrobe shopping.
I woke up early a few days after I picked up my copy, perked a fresh cup of coffee and spent my quiet time going through each and every page!
After going through it once I went through it again and this time marked a few of the pages that inspired me.
I took notes and made a shopping list so that I would not only be ready for spring but I’d be InStyle.
I saw looks I love and want to copy like bracelet stacking. Lots of beautiful bracelets stacked on each wrist.
I also read about the Season’s Flirtiest Florals and that florals are going to be big this year. I love girlie looks and florals are a favorite of mine, YAY!
I also saw in the her style section that the standout shoe is a two-tone slingback which is good and bad. Good because I love that style but bad because just last year when I was doing a household purge I got rid of a pair of two-tone slingbacks but I guess that just means I need to get a new pair, right?
Speaking of shoes when I was getting my hair done the other day my stylist and good friend was wearing a pair of the cutest shoes. When I looked through InStyle I actually saw the same shoes she had on! They were metallic leather tennis shoes. I added those to my list, my ever growing list of spring must-haves.
This issue was packed with so many great tips including Taking the Perfect Selfie which I definitely needed! I knew the tip about good lighting but the other tips were new to me and I can’t wait to try them.
I was also so inspired by the Instant Style pages. If you’re not familiar with that section check it out for sure. There are so many ideas for creating looks you’ll love without spending a fortune and that’s so important when you want to look good without breaking the bank.
I enjoyed my Me Time so much that I’m planning it again. The next time I’m at Kroger I’ll be buying the current issue of PEOPLE and StyleWatch and this time I’ll be using a coupon and you can, too. After you read your issues I would love for you to come back and tell me which fashions you’ll be planning to buy for spring? What about the trench coats and the military-inspired looks? Those made it to my shopping list as well. That shopping list just keeps growing and I can’t wait to start the hunt for some beautiful spring fashions. #adv
