Valentine’s Day Mason Jar Cozy
Here we are the 3rd Sunday of the month and that means it’s time for another Mason Jar Monday! This month’s theme is Valentine’s Day. Don’t forget to scroll to the bottom of this post and check out all of the other Valentine’s Day Mason Jar inspiration. For my share this month I went with something a bit more masculine than what you would usually associate with this frilly chocolate-y lace-y holiday but I have all sons, so…well, I think masculine most of the time! Before Christmas I was at Target and saw a really cute red and black Buffalo check throw. I bought two (they were only $3.00 each) and used one of them over Christmas as a table runner. I have plans for cutting them up to use as pillows but since I had more than enough fabric I decided to use some to make a Mason Jar Cozy. I cut enough of the fabric to go around my mason jar with an overlap. I used black thread to add a blanket stitch around the strip. I then added a big dark red button to the back, made a button hole. I also did a heart shaped cutout in the front that I also blanket stitched. I cut another heart from a primarily red check and stitched that to some plain gray flannel for the lid of the mason jar.

I filled my mason jar with Hershey kisses and added some pom poms. The pom-poms were so easy to make! I tried making them on my own with a piece of cardboard and a fork (too much Pinterest!) but found the best, fastest and easiest way to make them was with a Clover pom-pom maker.
The pom-pom maker is so easy to use (watch a YouTube video if the instructions seem a little fuzzy – that’s what I ended up doing) and I started making pom-poms for everything. Also, I found that I liked the look a big, bulky yarn gives better than other yarns and my favorite so far is Bernat Wool-up Bulky and that’s what I used for these pom-poms.
