Glass Percolator ~More Coffee Love!

For most of my life I have been totally unaware of the joys that can be found in a Thrift Store.  The phrase one person’s discard {trash seems like such an icky word} is another person’s treasure certainly holds true.  My husband and I went out the other night to pick up some groceries for some new recipes I was working on and ….. oh my…..look, it’s the grocery store in the same shopping plaza as…..the Thrift Store…so of course being that close….I had to ‘run’ in.  Up and down the aisles I went {my favorite aisles are the house ware and glassware aisles} looking at some lovely, and some not so lovely, items.  My husband came up behind me….. I turned to look at him …. and….. I spied it…. on the top shelf…. a large glass object that looked like it could be a *gasp* glass percolator.  I had heard that these existed but had never seen one in captivity {the Thrift Store is my only adventure so I like to pretend I’m on safari….humor me if you don’t mind}….reaching, reaching, stretching….it was out of my grasp….but…well, I did have my husband with me so I pointed….he pointed….I nodded my head ‘yes’….he reached for it…..grabbed it….and handed it to me and yes….YIPPEE…..it was a glass percolator in pristine condition and….it was only…. $4.99.  Into the cart it went!

I came home and did some research and it was a Pyrex 9 cup Glass percolator {the numbers still clear and bold} and to be quite honest….the taste of the coffee is amazing and slightly better, in my opinion, than Coffee Press Coffee.  While it is not as quick or easy to make as my Keurig coffee {another Thrift Store delight} ….I make it every morning and can barely wait for my first cup!
