When I was a little girl, about 4 years old, I remember sitting on a big fluffy bed watching my Great Grandma brush her hair while looking into a lovely vanity mirror. She was 96 years old, her hair had never been cut and it cascaded down to her ankles. She would brush and brush and then wrap it all up in a huge bun, pick up the most lovely ornate mirror I had ever seen and check the back or her hair to be sure the bun was positioned perfectly. I loved her vanity set-the brush, the mirror and so many other lovely jars, bottles, etc. When I was at her house I was allowed to play with some of her fashion items from years gone by. I had a favorite-a lovely beaded purse that I still have to this day. My understanding was that the purse was from the 1920′s-a flapper style accessory. I am blessed to have so many trinkets in my home that hold very clear memories of loved ones long gone, that purse being one of them. I don’t have Great Grandma’s hand mirror, but recently acquired one from a local antique shop which while not as pretty as the one I remember is a delicate beauty nevertheless.
