One of my favorite rooms in my house is the sunroom. It is made of cedar and all of the outside walls are windows-I love that room. I get so excited every year when we “open” the sunroom, uncovering the furniture, giving the room a clean sweep and decorating. It has been several years since I changed up the finishing touches and this year I decided to go for it. I didn’t want to spend a lot of money so I headed to Ikea. I just bought a few things to start, and I hope to get this mini project started this weekend.
I bought these net curtains for only $4.99 a package. They can be cut and do not need to be hemmed.
Rather than hang curtain rods, I purchased this cool wire and hooks {$4.99 a package} so that I can drape them in a swag-like fashion crisscrossing between the windows. I bought an extra package of the wire and hooks for use on another window-any window-in my house. You can hang handkerchiefs, tea towels, bandannas, doilies, etc. I am still not certain where I will use this extra wire but my mind is racing!
The sunroom leads out to the pool and there are usually goggles, sunscreen and towels scattered throughout the room after swimming. I am going to hang this rail with the baskets and hooks to hopefully cut down on this clutter. {Rail $3.99-cutlery caddies $3.99 each-S-hooks 5 pack for $2.99}
Lastly, I found these adorable tea candle lanterns. I may hang them or just place them on the tables in the room. {$4.99 each}

I will be linking this over at Hooked on Houses-Hooked on Fridays tonight for the amazing weekly blog carnival hosted by the always hospitable Julia!

There is an IKEA store within 30 miles of my home, but I’ve never been. Those little tea candle lanterns alone make me want to go! ~Arleen

I’ve seen these cute lanterns at Ikea too – hanging them would be wonderful if you can find a good spot for them.
Arleen, you absolutely must go check out Ikea! Even if you don’t want a house-full of their particular style, they have some amazing bits and pieces at dreamy prices. Please, please go, and let us know how you get on!

Oooo – everything looks so pretty! Will we get to see the finished room? I bet it’s gorgeous!! There is an IKEA in Charlotte now, but it’s only been open a few months, and it’s still scary to go there on the weekend…I don’t crowds so much.

ohh those lanterns are great! I’ve been meaning to do another Ikea run… maybe those are the motivation
I was just today, wondering how I was going to corral the goggles, towels, sunglasses, water guns and sunscreen this year. Great idea.
It looks like you are going to have a fabulous sunroom! Love your choices. Then you’ll have a pretty spot to read all those cupcake recipe books you have!
Have a great weekend!
