Recently, I did some Thrift Store shopping. Usually I go to Thrift Stores, look around, think to myself “I have enough stuff at home and don’t need any more” and then leave empty handed. On my most recent outing though boy did I SCORE BIG! I really like wicker and will be opening my sun room hopefully this weekend, airing out the wicker and getting it ready for summer entertaining. Wicker is usually not inexpensive {at least I never find it cheap}..so when I found these two items I could not pass them up. My photography unfortunately does not do the items justice but I wanted to share anyway.

This plant stand is just loaded with silk plants and is in new condition. I cannot find anything wrong with it and it only cost $15.00. This will definitely be going into the sun room next to the white wicker furniture.

This picnic basket is like new…the tag was still on it and the contents – dishes, bowls, napkins, eating utensils and cups – were all inside along with a beautiful quilted liner. The basket and contents were only $16.50!!! My dilemma now though is how to use it/display it!?! Should I spray paint it a lighter color, leave it as is, use it as a picnic basket, use it to display linens, use it as a giant sewing basket, etc.!?! I would really love to hear your ideas and suggestions…I am open to just about anything so please help me!
thrifty hugs, mb
I will be linking this over at Hooked on Houses – Hooked on Fridays this week…be sure to stop over there for lots of great ideas!

Wow! What great finds! I am not good with decorating, so I have no advice on what to do with the picnic basket!

I love wicker too, YAY! I have a wicker chair in my front garden that NEEDS a new coat of white paint, it is now all chipped and showing it’s original color. But in a way I like that look too so maybe I will keep it that way for another year

I too love wicker. I have pieces that I’ve had for years and am loathe to part with, even though I’ve kept them far too long.
You should fill the basket with snacks and napkins so you’ll always be ready for a little picnic, even if it’s only in the living room.

Sadly, my cats and wicker are not compatible. (not if we want the wicker to last anyway!) So I like to live vicariously through others.
Thanks for sharing!

What a great day of shopping! The picnic basket is great and I can see why it’s a hard decision about what to do with it. I know I’ve had picinic baskets in the past that I really didn’t use. It might have been better if I displayed it somehow. Let us know what you do. I’m a big wicker fan! {More in common!}
