More Pirate Party Fun

This is the finished treasure chest filled with loot…it started as a Pull ups box. {I always save my boxes for grocery shopping at Sam’s Club and Aldi’s-so convenient for sorting and getting the groceries into the house.}

I taped the top of the box back together, marked an equal distance down from the top all around, cut through the box on three sides and scored the box only on the back-this was my “hinge”. Next, my oldest son covered the box with black construction paper. We then found a lock on line, printed it out, cut it out, cut in half and taped that above and below the front/center of the chest. We filled the chest with loot that any 4 and 3-year-old pirates would love! Pirate coloring books, pirate crayons, foam swords, plastic boats, pixie sticks, pirate tattoos, pirate stickers, gummy worms, kazoos, harmonicas, eye patches, telescopes, and my favorite, monkey lanterns to light the way. Everything that filled the chest was from the $Dollar Store$.

We started each of the pirates with a hat and hook from the $Dollar Store$. I bought two black bags from the local crafts store, some fuzzy letters from JoAnn Fabrics and ironed these on so that each pirate had a bag to hold their booty.

Pirates also need shirts. Cousin J had one but birthday boy Max needed one so I took a muscle shirt from last summer and stenciled on a skull and crossbones.

I found a kit for making eye patches and pirate necklaces at Michael’s-$2.99 for six each-and everyone had fun making this pirate craft. We all wore our patches and necklaces for the treasure hunt.

Pirates need a treasure map. I found the “map” below and my husband typed up the directions. I printed out two of the maps {I lightened the background so that the directions could be read}, put them back into the printer and then printed out the directions on top. Next, we placed the maps into bottles I saved from Aldi’s cappuccino {if you haven’t tried it, it is very good…only a $1.09 a bottle and it is a nice treat!}

Next the little pirates were ready for the adventure to begin!

The pirates find the treasure…..

and celebrate the end of a great adventure!

This party was so much fun. I loved seeing the looks on the kids faces for every step of their journey.
We had lots of food-but everyone seemed to love the easy Bacon, Lettuce and Tomato wraps featured the other day-even the kids!

The photoshop Pirates were a big hit also!

Hello! I have had some great fun with pirate parties for my boys…one baker made a great cake for me -a slightly opened treasure chest, and she filled it with fake pearls ,jewel pop rings and chocolate coins.
