A few years ago I bought an urn, a somewhat rusty urn, that I just had to have.

I had no idea what I was going to do with it but I WANTED it.  It was on clearance for $4.50 which I was sure was a good deal {it was!} so I bought it.  It sat, got dusty, sat some more and then finally I decided what I wanted to do with it.  I did what any good re-doer does….I painted it.  I pulled out some white craft paint, applied a coat with a sponge brush

…waited for it to dry and then “dry brushed” it with some pink craft paint…added some pretty pink silk hydrangeas and that was it.

Sometimes I tend to be “afraid” to pull out the paint for fear of ruining something but that just stops the flow of creativity.  With this mini project I reminded myself that sometimes a simple update is all that’s needed to make me smile!

hugs, mb

  2. Wow! I love this- the white paint makes it look like stone and the pink tinge to it is so pretty. You definitely shouldn’t be afraid of pulling out the paint because you sure know how to work with it! And I LOVE hydrangeas, they’re one of my favs!!
