Easter Centerpieces

by mb on 03/19/2009

Before you know it, Easter will be here!  I love to decorate for Easter-bright cheerful colors and the celebration of a “new beginning”!

Below are some of my favorite centerpieces-most of them quite easy to make for the do-it-yourselfer.

Tiered Bouquet~Martha Stewart

How pretty and easy-Two cake stands, egg cups and some beautiful spring blooms.  I really like the yellow but other spring bouquets would look just as great-try some pansies, hyacinths, forget-me-nots, lilies of the valley, etc.!

Springtime Under Glass~bhg.com

Another easy centerpiece-a cake stand and cloche with an egg cup, a vintage photo, a small bouquet of flowers and some clip-art chicks tucked in a “nest”. {bhg.com}

Wheat Grass Centerpiece~Martha Stewart

This would be such a fun centerpiece for the kids to help make.  You still have time to start the grass seed {it takes about 2 1/2 weeks for the grass to grow and be suitable for this display}.

Doily Basket~Martha Stewart

These would look so pretty scattered along a dining table and could even be used to hold place cards. {MarthaStewart.com}

Easter Egg Tree~Martha Stewart

This centerpiece uses blown out eggs {I have a mini tutorial available here}.  The eggs are hung from pussy willow but other blooming bushes could also be substituted.  As an alternative, you could gather some broken sticks and twigs, cut to approximately the same length and spray paint using white or a fresh muted pastel color.

Daffodils and Pom-Pom Chicks

Easy and cute!  Daffodils and Pom-Pom Chicks . {MarthaStewart.com}

sunny hugs, mb.

I will be linking this over at Hooked on Fridays-Hooked on Houses blog carnival hosted by Julia who is “Hooked on Toile” this week!

p.s. I also linked this post to Fifi Flowers for her Fabulous Fashionable Friday {say that five times fast and then head over there!}

Hi Mary Beth!
I would comment about your awesome centerpieces, but I have to wait until Kim gets finished telling me all about your “fabulous cupcake recipies”. She’s almost done…
Okay, I love to top centerpiece the best and I think the grass seed one would be a blast with the kids. Beautiful post!

I am chomping at the bit to put out my Easter decor, and centerpieces are always so much fun. And I love the photographs you’ve included — so inspirational! ~Arleen

I was just thinking that I HAD to make that grass display, but quickly realized that wouldn’t go over well with cats! LOL!

Very fun and festive ideas!

Well, I must say I like the grass seed one the best! I’m going to have to get me some grass seed this week! I see Tim was able to comment even with all my talking going on! :-)

Ooh, I had forgotten about growing grass for a table top. My daughter would love watching the grass grow and then decorating it with *candy*!!

First, I love having a dining table centerpiece! And second, I LOVE spring & Easter decorating!! My wedding anniversary actually falls on Easter this year, and my birthday has before too…maybe that’s why I love it so! Pastels = YUMMY. I can’t really do centerpieces though because I have a cat who thinks he owns anything and everything in my house. Therefore, I just keep candlesticks on my table. Maybe I’ll do something like one of your pictures on my mantle!! Thanks for sharing such beautiful pictures!

Nice centerpieces, still working on mine. I use my glass cake plates for the best results. Thanks for sharing!

I love your ideas. And who would have ever thought to actually grow grass for a centerpiece? That is an awesome idea! I trully like each idea!

Thanks for all the pretty Easter scenes! My daughter’s birthday is on Easter Sunday this year, so we’ll be having an egg hunt to commemorate her second year. I’ve got some good ideas…
