Time for another comfort food recipe-this one in the form of a dessert. Even though I never tasted my grandmother’s rice pudding, my dad always talked about how good it was. This is an old-fashioned recipe and hopefully, even Grandma T. would like it!
Rice Pudding
1 tablespoon butter
1/3 cup rice, rinsed and drained
pinch of salt
2 cups of whole milk
1 tablespoon sugar
optional: 1/4 cup raisins
Preheat oven to 350°. Grease bottom of pie plate with butter. Combine rice, milk, sugar, salt and raisins {if desired}. Bake in oven, stirring occasionally, for about 2 hours or until the rice is tender.
Serves 4. Refrigerate any leftovers.
Remove from oven and serve warm sprinkled with cinnamon and topped with whipped cream.
hugs, mb
I linked this recipe to two blog carnivals this week: Forever Wherever and a Strawberry Festival is featured this week {everything looks so good!}
I am also linking to Blessed with Grace-this week’s featured recipe is Tuna Casserole {I really, truly love TUNA!}

one of my favorite desserts…Martha had a version a while back that had a baked meringue topping…I add that to my rice puddings now and they are even better – will have to give your recipe a try – looks delicious! and I totally agree with Jennifer…I should make sure I’m full before coming here because your recipe posts always make my mouth water.
