Years ago I bought a book that I just loved. Decorate Your Door by Edie Stockstill. About once a year I go through my bookshelves and rediscover forgotten treasures. A few weeks ago, I did just that and this was one of the books I “found”.
This book helped me to think of my doors in new ways not just the front door through which your guests enter but also interior doors, closet doors and cupboard doors. All doors are an inviting canvas to showcase your individuality.
The doors of this amoire are just gorgeous. The bold colors, floral pattern and lovely knobs all come together to make this piece a standout in any room.
I love the look of lace and flowers. This is probably my favorite door decor for its simplicity and delicate nature. A lace curtain is simply “belted” with some ribbon and then a grapevine wreath to which glass vases are attached with lace and ribbons is hung from the top of the door. The vases are easily removed to be washed and new “fresh cut” flowers placed….just lovely!
I love this closet not so much for the doors but for the vignette that is visible once the doors are opened. Look closely at all of the elements. The doll house to the left, antique dolls, small desk, vintage baby clothes, teddy bear and fabric boxes atop the shelves. I would probably leave these doors open just to admire the closet contents.
The laundry room door is so cute and simple. A small wooden sign that says it all “Laundry” and a clothes line with tiny clothes and clothespins strung beneath.
P.S. I checked Amazon and they do have several used copies available.
