Every year I like to get my kids an Advent calendar and every year, I have trouble finding one. This year, I decided to make one {late last night}. This is extremely simple and inexpensive.
Materials needed: Tissue paper, raffia {ribbon, twine, hemp}, plain white paper, candies, BIG candy or small toy for Day 24.
I printed out the numbers 1 through 24 on plain white paper. I made two sets, one in red and one in green as I was making the project for my two youngest. I cut 6 sheets of tissue paper into 8 pieces each. I used two different tissue papers, again one for each child and two different colors of raffia {that way, the kids will know which sacks are theirs}. I cut up the numbers into strips. Next, wrap the candy {candies} into each piece of tissue inserting the number before tying it up. That is it. I placed the higher numbers at the bottom of a bowl working my way up to the smaller numbers. Each day, each child will pull a little “sack” of candy with the proper number working their way up to day 24.
hugs, mb
