Halloween Bat Luminary

Bat Luminary

Bat Luminary

Here is a very easy Halloween decoration…… a luminary.  You can use any size can you would like….soup can to super sized can.  I had a can of potatoes from Sam’s Club (a big can) that I had saved and that is what I used.  First, remove the label from your can and then spray paint the can any color you choose.  I spray painted mine dark green because that is what I had on hand.  Once dry, I made a template of a bat, simple shape with a discernible outline.  I cut that out of paper and taped it to my can.  Next, I used my Crop-A-Dile Big Bite to punch holes forming an outline of the bat.  I then removed the template, painted the bat body black…waited for that to dry and then outlined it in glow-in-the-dark paint so that it would glow at night.  I then punched two holes opposite of each other, added an eyelet (just to give it that finished look) and made a handle using some wire.  When you add a candle and light it, the shape of the bat becomes visible in the dark.  I couldn’t wait until tonight to post this, so the picture in the dark is not the best, but I may add one later if it is a clearer picture.

You could make yours a Jack-o-lantern, witch, cat {there are many down loadable templates for pumpkins that could easily be converted to use on your can}.  scary hugs, mb
